The next hot game to hit the Nintendo Wii is definitely NERF N-Strike! Why? Well, besides the game shipping with one cool ass blaster controller…the controller doubles as a real NERF Gun! Yeah, the controller will work with the new Wii game as well as fire real darts at your friends, sister, mom, whoever and whatever. This is extremely interesting to me because of the level of design and development that was put into this new peripheral for the Nintendo Wii. What a golden idea….seriously! Make a controller that is cool enough to use in a shoot-em up game, but also make it usable for play without any console period! Now that’s thinking outside the box. As a game programmer myself I must say they have tapped into a new gaming market. Making peripherals that are usable outside of the limitations of a console is nothing but golden. Bravo Nintendo! Just when I started losing faith in your..you sneak up and surprise me with something like this. You can expect the NERF N-Strike game to feature both singleplayer and multiplayer modes for you to enjoy. Could the game suck? Maybe…but you get a NERF Blaster gun controller with it man…so I will definitely buy it just for that.
Do you want a peek at this controller? No problem just look below!!

The Nintendo Wii Declines as a Singleplayer Console
First off, let me say that I have owned the Nintendo Wii since it’s release in the U.S. and really enjoyed it…for awhile. The thing about this console is that it is mainly a “party machine”. By that I mean it’s really only fun when you and a group of friends get together and play games like bowling, tennis, or something like Mario Party with a lot of mini-games. That’s a lot of fun and all, but when you are alone and playing the Wii the gameplay changes drastically. If you play those same games you were having a blast while playing with your friends then you will probably see how quickly it loses its flair. Now of course there are games that are more geared to the a single player such as Zelda, Metroid, Sonic Rings, and Super Mario Galaxy. However, have you played these games with the Wii controls? I’ll admit Zelda was actually awesome and certainly the number one game for the Nintendo Wii. But there is a lacking of games that equal up to the “fun factor” that Zelda provided. I think this has a lot to do with the controls. Sure playing tennis, baseball, or even going fishing is really cool with Wii-mote technology, but that same technology steals away from the gameplay of a lot of games on the Nintendo Wii (particularly first-person shooters). It could just be me…but aiming a Wii-mote at the screen to shoot down enemies in a game such as Metroid just sucks. Seriously. It reminds me of the days of the Nintendo 64 because of its somewhat broken gameplay. The Wii mote doesn’t always detect your movements unless it’s perfectly aimed or done every time, which makes it really hard to complete some tasks. This isn’t because the game is broken though, it is because the controls are. I feel that the Nintendo Wii will end up like the Gamecube eventually when the novelty of the “innovative” controls wears off on the public. That is of course unless people really enjoy having the “party machine” console. In that case, you are good to go as far as the gaming experience goes. However, if you are a hardcore gamer…your best bet is to go with PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 instead. Otherwise you will find yourself disappointed in the long run in my humble opinion. The other current consoles provide a solid singleplayer and multiplayer experience with almost all of their games (of course a few games will bomb every now and then). Whereas I would say the Nintendo Wii has a 1 in 10 chance of being a solid game. In the end I just don’t like those odds.
Rock Band…Rocks It!
I have played a LOT of games throughout my life, and I must say that Rock Band is one of the coolest games I have ever seen. I purchased the special edition version last night, which comes with the official Rock Band microphone, drums, and guitar. It wasn’t cheap, but was well worth the money once I got home and started jamming Weezer - “Say It Ain’t So” with my girlfriend. We both played Rock Band for about 2 hours straight! Any gamer/rock fan can certainly appreciate the time put into this game and the replay value is extremely high. There are tons of songs to learn, plus unlockable songs, plus songs you can purchase on the PS3 Network or Xbox Live for a reasonable price. It has also been confirmed by an EA CEO that Rock Band will make its way to the Nintendo Wii in the near future, although no release date has been set yet. Overall, I give this game a 9/10. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 10 is because the graphics aren’t exactly spectacular, but the game play more than makes up for this. You should definitely give this game a shot if you haven’t already…it truly rocks!

Nintendo Wii & Midway Stole Wii-Mote Technology!
After watching an interview with an Ex-Midway employee on FOX, it is completely obvious that the former employee was robbed of his dream. Not only did he come up with the idea, but he also had working versions of it 8 years ago! Which of course is long before the Nintendo Wii ever came out. Of course, the employee had great faith in the new video game controller technology and wanted to secure his piece of the pie for it. Apparently the ex-employee was fired from Midway games a few months after requesting royalties on the future of this project. As time passed though the ex-employee felt the idea had been dropped until the day he saw the first Nintendo Wii commercial. Ouch! What a way to learn you got robbed by two of the biggest companies in the industry. Nintendo’s defense for the situation is that they took the idea to another level and expanded it beyond what the former employee had ever done. However, by watching the video I feel that statement is untrue. Don’t believe me or want more information? Check out the video below! By the way, I still love Nintendo and will support them to the end, but I do feel they did this guy pretty wrong!!
