Ah…the long awaited future of gaming. If you are anything like me, or as old as me then you have probably been dreaming of this day for quite some time. From old movies hyping up the possibilities…to the simple thought of just having a gaming experience in a truly virtual world. Sure…the Wii is as close as we’ve come to a home virtual reality games experience, but that doesn’t mean it is delivering the quality we have all been waiting for. Virtual reality games have certainly been made and are a lot of fun, but they aren’t available on a mass market scale yet. I remember playing a couple of virtual reality games at my local mall that were extremely fun. The first one was a shooting game setup kind of like the Doom and Quake series’, and the second game was a fighting game that looked a lot like Virtua Fighter. I certainly preferred the first game because I am a shooter fan, and being that close to the action was extremely fun. The fighting game was cool too though because I got to beat up my friends without getting in any trouble lol. You can also play virtual reality games at Disney, and they are really fun too. Anyway, I am hoping for a gaming experience like I had at that mall & Disney so many years ago but at my own house. The setup would be a bit bulky and look a lot like the picture above, but it’s not like we don’t have enough room in our living rooms anyway. If we have enough room for an entire Rock Band setup then I think we can handle a situation like in the picture. How long will it be before we are able to enjoy virtual reality games in our own home? I guess time will tell on that one, because as of right now there are no cost effective ways to make it happen. If your rich then I guess you can go drop a few grand and get yourself a cool setup, but for the rest of us….we will have to wait.
